NaNoWriMo Week Two: Writing Like a Boss

CantTalk

Week two of NaNoWriMo was test week. That’s right, I said test. Your endurance and fortitude were tested. If you passed it with flying colors, congratulations, but don’t celebrate on thin ice. It’s early days. If it didn’t go well, and you found yourself crying into your pillow because week one’s blush of excitement has faded, shake it off. It’s time to dig down deep and find the energy, enthusiasm, and sweat-inducing inspiration to write when even cleaning toilets sounds like more fun.

The end is still weeks away, and week three is going to be even tougher than week two. But you can do it. Get that word count up now because if you are in America, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I can’t speak for you, but that week will not have me writing one word. Seriously! not.one.stinking.word. I need to rock that word count now so that I can coast into week four, writing like a boss.

Give your characters a pep talk and then give them an ultimatum. Your capricious pen should strike fear in their fickle hearts. It’s time to pop some caps in your novel. Week three is here!

Now get back to work!

  1. Thanks for the pep talk! I’ve seen lots of people either threatening to drop out or actually throwing in the towel, so it’s nice to see a supportive post. Hopefully the writers who need a boost find this one!

  2. Yes, it’s all about perseverance during the second and third week. I know how hard it is to keep the momentum going. I hate to see people give up because I know how great that feeling is to cross the finish line!
