Is Seeing Really Believing?

What if you were walking near a lake one quiet misty evening, and you hear a slight splash? With just a hint of curiosity, you turn to look. The twilight wreaks havoc on your vision, but you see some sort of dark shape. What is that? Whatever it is, it’s lumpy and ripples effortlessly across the water’s surface. Other than that initial splash, the mysterious thing is silent. You fumble for your phone to take a picture, even though you know it’s probably getting too dark. You only have time to snap one grainy, blurry picture of whatever it is that came up to have a look-see before it dips gently out of sight. It’s gone.

Is that what I think it is?
